Hope you're ok.Mahirap talagang maospital.

Ingat,
Lester

I agree. My dad has been hospitalized May last year. And even if I had him admitted in the hospital where I'm working, that doesn't mean that we're already free of expenses. Professional fees of doctors may have been discounted, but I still have to think of where I'll be getting the payment for his medicines, laboratory tests, and lodging at the hospital. The hospital does not provide insurance for its moonlighting doctors and resident physicians in training. I'm quite thankful that I was able to pay the P100,000 hospital bill, through the help of kind relatives. It's a big amount of money but I really had not regrets paying it. Working in the hospital for a time have already made me understand why it was that expensive. The problem is not everybody could afford to pay that much for their health care.

I agree with aajao that the Canadian Health care system really works. Well, I don't live in Canada but I do have friends who live there and tell me how beneficial the system had been for them. Unfortunately though, I don't think it will work for us in the country just yet. The people have too much mistrust in the government that if the government will raise taxes, people will simply not allow it. Also, the Canadian Health care system works because (aajao, please correct this if it's wrong) the system is funded by a mixed public-private system, 70% government and 30% private, and that the Canadian government spends about $2,000+ per person on health care (I got the numbers here).
And perhaps there is lower unemployment rate in Canada compared to the Philippines.

Sadly, the Philippine government only provides P100+ per Filipino for health services. Worse, a lot of our countrymen are still unemployed. How could they even pay for taxes and their medical insurance when they've got no money for food and other basic necessities?

Yup, health care in the Philippines is a sad, sad story.

Hirap magkasakit sa isang third world country.
